The markup on that printing was my annual income. Print is not dead
Regardless of what you may have heard about the internet eliminating printing, believe me it’s just not true. In fact, printing is a thriving $83 billion dollar a year industry, twice as large as the entire music industry. Stack up all the printed documents produced in one year and that pile would reach from here to the moon and back. Commercial printing has been around since 1439 when the Gutenberg press was invented, and hand printing preceded that by centuries.
Today, however, modern high-speed equipment creates everything from books, to billboards, and the presence of printed documents in our environment is so ubiquitous that we don’t even notice it. From printed cereal boxes to shoe boxes and paper plates to toilet paper we are surrounded by the output of this expansive industry.
